An Early Interest in Music
Stephen Tirpak was born into a musical family and began studying violin and drums at a very early age. In middle school he became interested in the trumpet and started playing jazz and classical music. As a child, Stephen sang in the Philadelphia Boys Choir and toured the world, singing in many of the most prestigious concert halls including Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House in Australia.
Stephen attended the High School for Creative and Performing Arts. It was there that he discovered the drive to practice. So it began, the long uphill battle of developing talent. Stephen knew he wanted to be a musician but didn't know what exactly he wanted to do in the music industry. Unable to make up his mind, he decided to pursue all aspects of the business and let fate be his guide.
Experiences Composing, Studio Engineering
Stephen went on to study composition at The University of the Arts. He studied studio engineering as an apprentice at "Crystal Clear Studio" in Philadelphia. He practiced the trumpet, bass trumpet, trombone and piano. He learned about the aspects of the business that make music a business. Ironically, all of these skills have come together and support each other, leading to more opportunities. Stephen often says, "There’s no such thing as a normal day. I can't wait to see what comes next!"
Trumpet and Trombone Player
His session work on platinum-selling albums includes stints with recording artists such as: Will Smith, R.Kelly, Luther Vandross, Gerald Levert and Grammy Award winning John Legend. Stephen has also composed and arranged for the 2005 MTV Movie Awards and motion picture soundtracks like Disney / Pixar's "Robots" and Columbia / MGM's "Yours, Mine & Ours".
Stephen's young fame has already earned him some press coverage.
